Leighton Green is a 40-hectare strategic development site at the western edge of Crewe, bounded by Middlewich Road, Pyms Lane and Minshull New Road. The site is currently undeveloped and consists mainly farmland with an established ‘green way’ connecting Crewe to open countryside.

The potential development for Leighton Green includes up to 400 homes with appropriate green infrastructure and public open space, 7 hectares of potential employment land, community outdoor sports facilities and the potential for a deep geothermal energy centre. In addition to the direct development on council owned land, the proposal will also help to unlock the delivery of a further 350 residential units on adjacent land.

Part of the development proposal will include the construction of a new spine road through the site, linking Minshull New Road to Smithy Lane, enabling improved access to Leighton Hospital.  Its construction will also help to alleviate traffic on Minshull New Road.

Once planning approval secured and the spine road constructed, then similar to SMDA, the site will be disposed to developers in serviced land parcels.

A Public Consultation was undertaken in July 2015, see wbsite link for more information http://www.leightongreendevelopment.co.uk/
